Day 1: Paris – Caen - Bayeux
6.45 am Meet Gare Saint Lazare to board the 7.12 am TGV for Caen.
Arrival Caen around 9 am with onward journey to Caen Memorial and a guided visit around World War II sites.
Lunch served at the Memorial restaurant grill.
The afternoon is spent touring the beaches of the Normandy landings (artificial port at Arromanches, German battery at Longues sur Mer, American war grave at Colleville sur Mer, Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc) in eight seater car accompanied by bilingual guide.
Departure for Bayeux.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 : Bayeux – Paris
Breakfast at hotel.
Free time to visit Bayeux, long ago sacked by northerners, and the town’s eleventh-century Notre Dame Cathedral -- a fine example of the Norman gothic school of architecture built by Bishop Odon, half-brother of William the Conqueror.
You will be free to visit the Museum of the Battle of Normandy which, having been entirely redone in 2006, explores the
unique and exhaustive story of Normandy landings and combat between June 7 and August29, 1944.
Lunch at the Petit Normand restaurant in town centre.
Audio guided visit of the Bayeux tapestry telling the story of King William’s conquest of England following the sermon of Edward the Confessor and the oath taken by King Harold, events which led to the Battle of Hastings.
Taxi from hotel to station at the end of the day for the 6.30 pm TGV to Paris.
